For Immediate Release

PROSSER, WA – July 25, 2011 – Red Comet announced that it earned accreditation from the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC) for its new Online Learning Program for High School Credit Retrieval, Recovery and Enhancement in Feb 2011.

Earning accreditation from NWAC means Red Comet’s new Online Learning Program has met or surpassed rigorous standards for educational institutions and curriculum. These standards include every aspect of the online program, from curriculum to student support to a standard of continual improvement.

Red Comet, founded in 1999, has been providing credit retrieval for high school students in the U.S. Jupiter Education Services, LLC. acquired the assets of Red Comet in May 2010. Since the acquisition, Jupiter Education Services, LLC. has invested heavily in revamping the entire program.

The new program is aligned to academic standards across most of the states in the U.S. The new program offers a rigorous syllabus that promotes higher-order thinking, with online help available from certified teachers. In addition to core courses in English, Social Studies, Science and Math, Red Comet will also offer Advanced Placement courses for the gifted and talented. Many new high school Elective courses that focus on career development or technical skills have also been introduced.

“The positive financial impact of Red Comet’s program on a school is one of the key attributes of the program,” said Dr. Jay Srinivasan, Managing Director of Red Comet. “FTE funds remain within the school, since students stay at school because they are able to keep up with their credit requirements and eventually graduate from their own high school. Schools need not make any financial investment in Red Comet, and no district, state or federal funding is required to implement the Red Comet online high school program.”

"NWAC accreditation validates our mission to provide the power of a high school diploma to every eligible student and have a positive impact on society,” said Ms. Sapna Ganeshan, President of Red Comet. “We express our commitment to this belief by creating opportunities for students with multiple barriers to use our online courses to earn the credits they are missing to attain a high school diploma. We recognize the fact that students may have varying levels of challenges – both academically and economically. We offer specific solutions to address these needs and collaborate closely with parents and schools to create a respectful environment for the student.”
