America's Debt as Squirrel Allegory

When Power Line and the Freedom Club offered a prize for the best creative representation of the debt crisis, Justin Folk and over 200 others jumped right in. Folk's video "Squirrels" -- as it's informally known -- was an instant hit with the panel of judges, which included Hugh Hewitt and Andrew Breitbart, and secured the $100,000 prize. Justin wanted the video, which can be viewed at spendingisnuts.com, to highlight the significance and impact of debt in the way that many other creative types focus on war and environmentalism.

"Most people don't want to think about debt or the dangers it holds. When you consider what debt can do and has done to nations throughout history, we'd be fools not to recognize our country's solvency as the single greatest issue we face today. In my piece, I wanted to not just show how bad the problem is, but I sought to convey how we got to this point, and our choices moving forward," said Justin.

Justin Folk is hitting print and airwaves to share his message about America's debt and squirrel allegory with audiences everywhere.

Ask Justin:

-- What inspired him to enter the Power Line / Freedom Club contest
-- Why so few creative types focus on issues like debt
-- Why he sees the national debt as the single greatest issue affecting the nation
-- How the squirrel allegory makes it easier for everyday Americans to understand how the debt crisis came to be
