RAFI’s COO recognized as one of the 100 Cebuana Trailblazers

Dominica B. Chua, chief operating officer (COO) of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), is one of the 100 Cebuana Trailblazers. She is recognized for her work in the field of “Economic Engagement.”

Dubbed as the Practical Development Worker, her background in finance and ability to conceptualize innovative, sustainable, and holistic development programs, and passion for social development has enabled her to manage a big foundation, thereby, reaching out to marginalized Cebuanos.

Exhibit and recognition of the 100 Cebuana Trailblazers was held at the opening program of the Cebu Province’s 442nd Founding Anniversary at the Cebu Provincial Capitol Social Hall last Aug. 1.

Chua, as a trailblazer in the field of community development, is instrumental in the establishment of the various programs and initiatives of RAFI, such as Kool Adventure Camp, Young Minds Program, and RAFI Micro-finance (formerly Cebu Micro-Enterprise Development Foundation Inc.).

She also initiated strategic programs, including the Coalition for Better Education, Center for Teacher Excellence, and Cebu Uniting for Sustainable Water Foundation Inc.

Presently, she is the vice-chairperson of the Council for Good Governance, Council Member of the Tourism Council of Cebu, Board Member of the Association of Foundations, and Board Member of the Microsoft Philippines Learning Program, among others.

Chua has served RAFI for 35 years. From 1983-1994, she served as finance officer. Since 1995, she has been RAFI’s COO.

The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation's vision, in its 44 years of existence in development work in the Visayas and Mindanao, has consistently been "Touching People, Shaping the Future."

In 1994, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. won the Philippines Foundation, Inc. Perlas Award and, in 2010, the Anvil Award of Merit Public Relations Programs-sustained basis: Arts & Culture / Heritage / Tourism.
