Body Painting Goes Mainstream

Lately body painting has been showcased in everything from bridal magazines and catwalks to television shows and commercials (the New Zealand Air commercial has been viewed almost 7 million times!) Recently two staff members of Better Mornings Atlanta stripped down to their slacks for a session of professional body painting. Perry gave the cameras a thumbs up as he showed off his silvery angel wings painted on his back.
Locally, award-winning Spark Body Painting transformed six members of the Tallahassee Roller Derby team for a cervical cancer awareness project as well as local models into a super villain, Asiatic dragon, and a giant green and pink octopus along with a series of super hero vignettes for a competition piece at the International Face and Body Art Competition.
Spark Body Painting’s talented crew next takes the stage September 22nd as the LeMoyne Art Center unveils living art at their Art & Soul fall fundraiser. Spark Body Painting along with Artistic Director, Perdita Ross, have been working on the design and painting concepts since early July in order to give the show the pop and sizzle that have become associated with high end body painting events.
Spark Body Painting has been dazzling the local scene for the past year with big plans for the upcoming Halloween season, “we’re at our busiest in the month of October, between typical Halloween horror and body painted costumes we’ve got a pretty full plate. Body painting has really taken off in the last several years.”
