Children of All Nations Opens New Ghana Intercountry Adoption Program

Press release from: Children of All Nations

Children of All Nations (CAN), a division of Great Wall China Adoption, is pleased to announce today the opening of our newest intercountry adoption program in Ghana, West Africa. This program continues the mission of Children of All Nations to find forever families for orphans around the globe.

With over 1 million children estimated to be orphans in the country of Ghana alone, CAN is happy to begin recruiting families who adopt these children to be their own, while providing exceptional service to the families who hope to find their child in this peaceful, friendly African country.

Ghana is the fourth intercountry adoption program opened this year by CAN, and fourteenth program overall. Given the staggering number of orphans in the country in need of homes, and the success the Ghanaian Department of Social Welfare has had placing many children for both domestic and intercountry adoption, CAN is excited to begin working with families to adopt a child from Ghana.

Ghana’s orphaned and abandoned children, despite several government-run and private social welfare programs in the country, are at an extremely high risk for child labor, abuse, disease and malnutrition when living in institutions or the streets. The Department of Social Welfare actively works to help de-institutionalize children with these social welfare programs, but the majority of children still remain at risk until being placed with a permanent family. By helping the Department of Social Welfare place more of these children with their forever families, CAN hopes to make an impact on the plight of orphans not only in Ghana, but all of Africa. Ghana is now the fifth Africa adoption program CAN offers.

About Great Wall & Children of All Nations: Great Wall & Children of All Nations is a Hague-accredited adoption agency, uniting over 8,000 children with forever families since 1996 and bettering life for children left behind in orphanages. Children of All Nations continues to develop new intercountry adoption programs in hopes that every orphan will find a permanent, loving family and educate families in preparation for adoption.

About the Institute for Children of All Nations (ICAN): ICAN, the Institute for Chldren of All Nations, is part of Great Wall China Adoption and Children of All Nations. We have been a leader in international adoption for over 15 years. Among the 8,000 adoptions we have facilitated, many of these are waiting children. We strongly believe that children with special needs are the most vulnerable and most in need of loving homes. We began to place waiting children over 10 years ago and are very proud to say we have placed over 700 waiting children and counting.
