Charles Noll Named New Head Brewmaster at BrickHouse Brewery

PATCHOGUE, NY — BrickHouse Brewery has announced that Charles Noll has been named its Head Brewmaster. He previously worked at Harpoon Brewery in Windsor, Vermont.

As Head Brewmaster, Mr. Noll is now responsible for the recipes of all BrickHouse beers. This will include not only the half-dozen standards, an additional five seasonal beers as well as a few dozen specialty brews (known as “one-offs”) that the BrickHouse is known for, but will also allow him to brew beers of his own design.

He recently introduced his signature “Anarchy Ale,” a hoppy beer lager (ales and lagers are mutually exclusive), which, he point outs, will never be the same from one brew to the next. “It’s a little different each time,” Mr. Noll says. “The alcohol content and color are changed from batch to batch and its intended subtle variety gives the beer its name and the customers something new to look forward to with each brew.”

Also among Mr. Noll’s other recent creations is the BrickHouse Anniversary Lager, in honor of the BrickHouse’s 15th year this June. “The Anniversary Lager is a clean, crisp lager that is modeled after the Munich-style beers in Germany,” he says.

Mr. Noll spent eight years brewing his own beers at home before working at a microbrewery. He attended American Brewers School in California in 1997. After completing an apprenticeship, he worked at Franklin’s in Hyattsville, Maryland. While at Franklin’s, he oversaw the installation and inception of the brewery there and was Brewmaster for eight years before joining Harpoon Brewery.

Mr. Noll is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany. Originally from West Falls, New York, he currently lives in Patchogue.
