Treasured Vessels Foundation is Opening Their First Community for Sex Trafficking Survivors

North Texas: Treasured Vessels Foundation is opening the doors of their residential community that will operate as a clinically therapeutic aftercare program for survivors of domestic sex trafficking in North Texas. The house will have room for up to 8 girls, ages 18-24 years old. This treatment center will provide trauma-informed, individualized care that is essential in the healing and recovery process. It is estimated that average recovery from trauma is a 2-7 year process; however, there is a severe lack of long-term options for healing. Treasured Vessels Foundation is excited to provide one of the only long-term solutions for survivors of domestic sex trafficking in North Texas. TVF will be serving various counties such as: Grayson, Collin, Tarrant, Dallas, and Denton.

“Once a woman is rescued, people just kind of put a band aid on it or pigeonhole her in a substance and alcohol abuse rehab or some sort of other shelter. We really don't have enough specific solutions for an exploited and trafficked woman. We are going to do this right. We are going to do this together as a community.” says Alicia Bush, Founder | CEO at Treasured Vessels Foundation.

Why is there a need for Treasured Vessels Foundation?
A study conducted by Polaris Project, a nonprofit, non-governmental organization that works to combat and prevent modern-day slavery and human trafficking, found that there were only 529 beds exclusively designated for sex trafficking survivors. In the state of Texas alone, 79,000 minor and youth (those under 24 years old) are being trafficked for sex. Treasured Vessels Foundation exists to help fill the gap in long-term care. TVF longs for a community, a country, and world where people are free from enslavement. We seek justice, dignity, and hope. We desire for people to learn to look past brokenness and cracks on the outside to reveal the treasure inside.

Treasured Vessels Foundation was founded in 2016 by Alicia Bush after she discovered the lack of long-term placement for sex trafficking survivors. Over the past few years they have spent time building relationships with law enforcement, local non-profit organizations, and service providers; as well as, educating the community on the problem and empowering them to be a part of the solution. They are active members in the C7 Coalition, North Texas Coalition Against Sex Trafficking, C3ST, Youth Homelessness Committee, and the CEO Non-Profit Council.
