SGS NDT Training & Examination Center Completes BINDT Audit Again Without any Non-Compliance Reports

The SGS NDT Training & Examination Center in Shanghai, China is proud to inform that it has once again passed an audit by the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) with zero non-conformance reports. On July 21, 2011, the SGS center underwent a three-year re-accreditation audit and once more accomplished a 100% success rate by receiving no non-compliances, both as an Authorized Qualifying Body (AQB) and Accredited Training Organization (ATO), also being the first facility ever to do so.

The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) is an accredited Independent Certifying Body that offers certification Services around the world. In July 2008, SGS became the first ever Authorized Qualifying Body and Accredited Training Organization to have passed the initial BINDT accreditation audit with zero non-conformances for both AQB and ATO.

SGS is proud to acknowledge that the NDT Training & Examination Center in Shanghai, China has once again passed an audit by the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) (http://www.bindt.org/ ) with zero non-conformance reports for both Authorized Qualifying Body (AQB) and Accredited Training Organization (ATO) on July 21, 2011.

Since 2008, the SGS NDT Training & Examination Center (http://www.ndt-training.sgs.com/ndt-training-corp/ndt_training_center.htm) has undergone annual surveillance audits and maintained its 100% success rate of receiving non-compliances every year. Every three years AQBs and ATOs have to have a full assessment audit in addition to the annual audits. The full assessment audit is a combination of the initial accreditation audit and the annual audit of records, thus it is extremely rigorous. On July 21, 2011, the SGS center underwent a three-year re-accreditation audit and once again received zero non-conformance reports as both AQB and ATO.

The BINDT audit permits SGS to conduct both Training and Examinations in accordance with BINDT requirements, in China and around the world. It is an essential and increasing requirement of safety and quality assurance that operators and technicians are able to demonstrate the necessary level of knowledge, skill and competence. Non-Destructive Testing (http://www.sgs.com/non-destructive_testing?serviceId=10061644&lobId=5550) and Inspections are primarily operator-dependent. As a result, manufacturers, end users and the general public rely on the skill, experience, judgment and integrity of the personnel involved.

In China, SGS invested in a training school, setting a benchmark and creating an opportunity for local manufacturers and their inspection bodies to meet international standards in both production and inspection. “Operators and inspectors trained by the SGS Training and Examination Centre in China meet the requirements set out in EN473 and comply 100% to all PED and EN code related inspections without a doubt,” said Floris Verhagen, Global Director NDT Business.

BINDT manages the certification scheme and outsources the pre-examination training to Accredited Training Organizations (ATOs) and the conduct of the Personnel Certification of NDT (PCN) (http://www.ndt-training.sgs.com/ndt_training_courses) examinations to Authorized Qualifying Bodies (AQBs). Both ATOs and AQBs are vigorously audited by BINDT on a continuous basis. The SGS NDT Training & Examination Center has become the first permanent establishment in China to offer both ATO & AQB services.
