Rising Aging Population: According to estimates of the Federal Statistical Office, old-age to working-age dependency ratio will shift in the favor of an increasing number of people at old age. The old-age dependency ratio will rise to 50-52 by the year ending 2030 and to 60-64 by the year ending 2050. Notwithstanding a raise in the retirement age, the old-age dependency ratio for people aged 67 or older in 2050 would clearly exceed today’s old-age dependency ratio for people aged 65 and above. Aging population thus, in turn will require greater health resources in the near future.
