Press release from: Bavarian Inn

Frankenmuth, MI –Aug. 1, 2011 –The Bavarian Inn Restaurant presents, “Trains and Tractors Day,” a perfect way for families to enjoy a relaxing day of delicious food and rural treasures on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011.

The day begins at the restaurant at 10 a.m. with Thomas the Train activities and party favors for the children. A world-famous chicken plate luncheon follows at 11 a.m.

From there, guests are invited to join Farm Fest at Grandpa “Tiny” Zehnder’s Farm for some good old- fashioned fun. It’s a great way for city slickers to reconnect with their inner farmer.

“Finding activities that appeal to the entire family can be a difficult task,” said Bavarian Inn President Bill Zehnder. “Trains and Tractors Day has something for everyone. First, it gets the family together doing something outside. It is also educational, but concealed as enjoyment. Kids of all ages learn about the importance of Michigan agriculture, but it’s hidden in fun ways like demonstrations and hands-on activities. It gives a family a break from the weekday bustle to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. It also reminds all of us that food doesn’t just come from the corner grocery store.”

The “Trains and Tractors Day” package includes lunch, all tips and taxes, admission to Farm Fest, and a pony ride and party favors for the children. Reservations and prepayment is required and can be made by calling 1-800-228-2742.

Farm Fest, Aug. 5-7, 2011, is a three-day celebration of all things farming, including wagon rides, threshing demonstrations, a corn maze and a hands-on petting barn. Children are invited to experience antique tractors first-hand, with photo opportunities available.

Today, Bavarian Inn uses more “Pure Michigan” products than any place in the state, including the items it manufactures and sells in its gift shops and online. Against the backdrop of authentic German architecture, a variety of shops and other fun activities, a trip to Frankenmuth would not be complete without a visit to the Bavarian Inn.
