ABICOR BINZEL offers active health protection with the xFUME VAC series
Professional fume extraction during welding is becoming increasingly importantThe inhalation of welding fumes is a health hazard. Professional extraction of the fumes produced during welding is important not only to protect the welder, but also all other persons in the same area. Efficient extraction is now even mandatory in certain countries, and the research findings are increasingly linking weld fume inhalation to higher cancer risks as well as other ailments.
ABICOR BINZEL as developer and producer of shielding gas welding torches and cutting torches for MIG/MAG, TIG and Plasma offers three new fume extraction units in its product range – the xFUME VAC series.
Permanent health hazard without extraction
A welder is permanently exposed to fumes which are produced in very high concentrations, especially in the MIG/MAG welding process, but which cannot be neglected in other welding processes either. These microparticles pose a serious hazard. If this fume is not extracted properly, the tiny particles contained in it can trigger bronchitis or asthma, deposit in the lungs and even lead to poisoning of the body during prolonged exposure. Nausea, headaches and dullness seem to be the minor nausea. The smoke gases from chromium-nickel alloys, for example, are highly carcinogenic.
Active health protection with the xFUME VAC series
Health protection for the welder is ABICOR BINZEL's top priority. André Faber, Head of extraction technology, presents the three new fume extraction systems belonging to the xFUME VAC series:
The all-rounder xFUME VAC FLEX
“The mobile extraction unit xFUME VAC FLEX is a real all-rounder. Its extraction arm, which is available in lengths of 2, 3 and 4 metres, can be positioned exactly so that the fumes can be extracted directly above the process. If you are looking for a quick and efficient solution that does not require a lot of maintenance work and also takes in other types of exhaust gases such as those from grinding and cutting work, this extraction unit is the ideal solution.”
xFUME VAC ADVANCED – for up to two workstations
André Faber: “This small and compact fume extraction unit is ideal for mobile use and can control two independent fume extraction torches. The ABICOR BINZEL fume extraction torches RAB GRIP and RAB GRIP HE form an ideal combination and precise extraction. But also fume extraction torches of other manufacturers can be connected as well. Furthermore, the operating costs of the xFUME ADVANCED are low and the cleaning of the filter is fully automated. The filtered particles are regularly blown out and collected in a dust container with drawer, which can be easily emptied in the daily routine. This saves additional time and costs.”
The particularly strong xFUME VAC PRO
“This fume extraction unit is the champion among the fume extraction units", emphasises Faber. “The xFUME VAC PRO provides full power over a distance of up to 30 metres – for up to four robot torches. This is made possible by the particularly powerful high-vacuum technology with more than 26,000 PA vacuum. The robot welding torches can be easily mounted with the practical xFUME ROBO extraction kit.” According to the expert, the xFUME VAC PRO is ideal for ABICOR BINZEL's own robot torches ABIROB® A 500, W 500, W 600 and W 652. Torches from other manufacturers can also be easily connected.
W3 version expected in mid 2020
From summer 2020 a W3 version is expected to be available for all three xFUME VAC systems. These units will also be certified for the extraction of gases resulting from the welding of stainless steel.
