Strikerightnow – A Trucker’s Platform For Collaboration And Co-Operation
Today the trucking business alone employs over 10 million people in the US, making it one of the most significant contributors to job creation in the United States. The entire population greatly depends on the trucking industry for their food and other necessary supplies. However, the industry is plagued by serious problems that undermine both its significance in turning the wheels of the economy and its pivotal role in ensuring that supplies are delivered at the desired location, at the right time. The completely free trucker’s forum Strikerightnow, was started by veteran truck driver and owner William Weaver so that it can act as a platform where truckers can express their problems and interact with other truckers from across the country, joining in their quest for support and solidarity against a common set of issues plaguing the trucking industry. Not working toward a strike as the name would lead to believe, but encouraging Trucker’s to strike out against these problems.
Rising fuel prices have been one major factor that has been plaguing the trucking industry for many years. The price increases have slowly but surely eaten away the profits of the trucking business to an extent that it is almost impossible to manage a regular profit margin for both independent drivers and large trucking companies alike.
A major hardship that the US trucker’s face currently is in the form of FMCSA’s CSA program that is creating ripples of discontent amongst them. The new regulation which has been initiated with a point based system penalizes every trucker, reaching 100 points in terms of violations, being flagged for review or worse still, the company that they represent can be reviewed due to those actions. Trucker’s agree that safety is first and foremost but the way this system is implemented is disastrous to the industry and nearly impossible to stay in compliance with.
A lack of driver security, poor quality of the training programs that are training new drivers, an over all lack of respect for them and high handedness of many of the brokers and companies they deal with, tightly scheduled loads pushed hard only to leave the driver waiting many hours, sometimes even a day or longer to unload with no extra pay for his or her time, and all of this while trying to maintain a legal workplace with an enormous amount of regulation that gets worse every day.
Strikerightnow tries to bring to the forefront the problems that the industry faces, and will strive to work as a mouthpiece that can work for their benefit, affording Trucker’s the opportunity to petition for changes in the current system, take polls and surveys, and state opinion based on their experience, as well as free job listings and employment wanted sections.
To keep updated of the events happening in the trucking industry, register with Strikerightnow.
We are a company dedicated to supporting the truck driver by giving them a platform from which to petition for changes in the law which will make the industry safer and more favorable to work in.
