Biogas becomes an alternative to conventional fossil energy
Expert state, over the next two decades renewable energy generation will be the fastest-growing energy sector. In course of 2010-2016, the market is expected to rise from 124 billion USD to 217 billion USD in 2016. In 2010 global market for biogas plant equipment was worth 3 billion USD. It’s estimated at 8.6 billion USD by 2016, rising at a 5-year compound annual growth rate of 19.4%.Acceleration of development of non-fossil fuel is caused by price volatility, supply concerns and environmental aspects of fossil fuels. At this point, the price of oil on the world market has reached 100 USD per barrel. Renewable domestic energy supplies are seen as a way to overcome these problems, while biogas, a clean fuel derived primarily from waste materials, becomes an important alternative to conventional fossil energy.
The need to responsibly recycle large volumes of waste and the requirement to procure sustainable, secure energy supplies are two major issues facing governments and industries around the globe. The production of biogas from a number of waste streams (i.e. agricultural, livestock, industrial, landfills etc.) addresses both of these challenges.
Anaerobic digestion offers the most sustainable conversion process. In addition, the technology can be tailored to suit waste streams of all volumes, systems may be sized for use in households, commercial enterprises, utilities and industry.
