Press release from: Technical Foam Services Ltd

/ PR Agency: Technical Foam Services Ltd
Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (17 June, 2011) - Technical Foam Services, a leading independent engineering-based manufacturer and foam producer, is proud to have been part of an exciting new development in the world of cancer prevention.

A far cheaper and more patient-friendly method has been developed by the UK Medical Research Council, which involves the use of a reticulated foam sponge encapsulated within a pill. Once the pill is swallowed, it dissolves and after a few seconds to allow the reticulated foam sponge to expand, it is brought up through the patient's throat collecting cells en-route. The BBC recently reported on this breakthrough, which can be seen at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-13632606.

Technical Foam Services' involvement has included the identification and development of a suitable reticulated foam, which is then processed within their Corby factory to a precise shape; after which each sponge is cleaned to a recognised medical standard. Medical Foams have for many years been an integral part of Technical foam Services' business, and they believe this makes a project of this nature ideal for their company.

Duncan Geddes, Joint Managing Director of Technical Foam Services commented: "We are really committed to this project, as we can see how this new process will make a huge difference to the testing of cancer patients. The product will be available globally within the next couple of years, and with the huge cost saving this product offers in terms of subsequent cancer treatment (in comparison to traditional methods), it is certainly a great opportunity for us. We would like to thank the UK Medical Research Council for identifying our company as their preferred foam partners."
