Progress Made In Eradicating UK Models Scam

Press release from: Deepwide Uk Models

Following the determined efforts of a few like-minded modelling agencies the number of people being scammed by sham modelling agencies has diminished significantly.

London, England 10th July, 2011 - The steep reduction in people falling prey to unscrupulous modelling agencies has in part been attributed to the warnings and advisories that have taken centre stage on a number of industry websites.

An unnamed source from an agency in the North of England says, ‘If one person takes note of our advisories and is not taken for a ride by these cowboys we consider our job done. Although in an ideal world no one would be take in by these scams we can only educate, publish the advisories widely and hope people take note.’

These scams essentially involve young aspiring models being invited to an audition or screening, made to feel that they have a real opportunity in the industry and then asked to part with a sum of money for fictitious reasons. The ‘agency’ then tells the ‘candidate’ they will be in touch and are never seen or heard of again, along with the money.

Our source goes onto say, ‘Although the UK models scam is not a new phenomenon it still causes heartbreak and misery to many people every year and generally blights the whole industry. We hope the information that we and other agencies are highlighting will give people a headstart on these fraudsters and ultimately repair some the damage done to the industry as a whole.’

Many readers will wonder just how many people can be that gullible, the answer is simple. More often than not these sham agencies will portray themselves as consummate professionals with years of experience. This is often backed up by expensive cars and top end venues for the casting sessions, to all intents and purposes these people look and act the part.

Our source concludes by saying, ‘Although we have made some progress in reducing the amount of people falling victim to these scams there is still a lot more to do. We will continue to highlight the latest scams so that people can check before they go to an audition or casting session.’
