[Los Angeles, CA/USA] Divine Arts Media announces the August 2011 release of Sophia — The Feminine Face of God: Nine Heart Paths to Healing and Abundance by Karen Speerstra.

Speerstra is a veteran writer, editor, and expert on feminine spirituality. For more than 20 years she pondered writing Sophia — The Feminine Face of God. When publisher Michael Wiese asked her if she had anything “in the works” for his new imprint, Divine Arts Media, the book began taking shape.

In Sophia — The Feminine Face of God, Speerstra delves deep into faith traditions worldwide to reveal their wisdom. The book encourages readers to find the “essential feminine divine” within themselves and others. Each of the nine chapters focuses on gifts of the feminine spirit: joy, self-control, generosity, peace, faithfulness, patience, kindness, gentleness, and love, all within the context of abundance, rather than scarcity.

About the Author: Karen Speerstra is a veteran writer, editor, and author. Her books include Green Devotional: Active Prayers for a Healthy Planet, The Earthshapers, Divine Sparks, and Hunab Kue: 77 Sacred Symbols for Balancing Body and Spirit and her new book, Sophia —The Feminine Face of God. As a freelance writer, she spent 10 years writing weekly regional and national newspaper columns as well as articles, booklets, card sets, children's religious curriculum and poetry. She worked 20 years in college text and professional book publishing, developing books in music, art, humanities, photography, film, broadcast and a line of forward-thinking business books. From 1987 to 1999, she served as editorial manager at Butterworth-Heinemann, dividing her time between England and Boston. Karen is the mother of two sons. She and her husband John live in central Vermont. Learn more about her at her website: http://www.sophiaserve.com/

Divine Arts Media grew out of Michael Wiese Productions, founded by filmmaker Michael Wiese in 1976 in San Francisco primarily to produce films. In 1981, MWP published its first book, The Independent Film and Videomaker's Guide by Michael Wiese, selling over 50,000 copies. Over 30 years, MWP has become America's leading "how-to" film book publisher with a line of over 140 books on every aspect of filmmaking including many bestsellers. Now Divine Arts Media expands that mission, focusing on the power of art and media to spur personal and global healing, peace and understanding.
