Artisan Galleries present Richard Rowan
Coming from a design and fine art background, Rowan won the Daily Mail’s 1992 ‘Artist of the Year’ award, but after finding the life of an artist difficult and frustrating he turned his hand to the motor sport industry; a line of work that enabled him to see much of the world in the ensuing five years.
Never losing his natural love of art, Rowan continued his habit of sketching the scenery around him, which he would then turn into pieces to sell at local galleries when back home. This led to him receiving various commissions and leaving the world of motor sport behind.
For the last seven years Rowan has fully devoted his time to art, using glass as his preferred medium as opposed to a more traditional canvas or board. Drawing his inspiration from the great outdoors, Rowan uses oil on glass in a pain-staking, back-to-front process that has brought him critical acclaim and ongoing success.
“We are absolutely thrilled to host an exhibition of Richard Rowan’s work,” commented a spokesperson for Artisan Galleries. “His unique approach to expressing his view of the world around him consistently results in some of the most beautiful and inspiring pieces on the market today. We hope art lovers will make the most of this fantastic opportunity to see Richard’s striking collection and hear him speak about the secrets behind his signature techniques.”
