YesStyle helps Chinese Canadian Miracle Weekend raise funds for British Columbia Children's Hospital
Leading online Asian fashion retailer YesStyle is proud to announce its sponsorship of the 2011 Chinese Canadian Miracle Weekend to be held June 4, 2011 in Vancouver, British Columbia (BC), Canada. Organized by the Chinese Canadian community in Vancouver and now in its 24th year, the Chinese Canadian Miracle Weekend is an annual fundraiser that supports BC Children's Hospital, one of the largest children's hospitals in North America. Funds raised from the event will go towards the Oncology Inpatient Unit at the new BC Children's Hospital.YesStyle will sponsor the finale events, a telethon and radiothon that aim to raise funds from the Chinese Canadian community across the province of British Columbia. The telethon will air on Saturday, June 4 on Fairchild Television from 9:00pm to 12:30am while the radiothon will be broadcast on Fairchild Radio AM1470 and CHMB1320 between 9:00am and 6:00pm. The event also includes a series of fundraising activities such as a kids' golf tournament and a charity cake sale by a prominent local bakery.
"We're proud to help support the BC Children's Hospital. The new building and services will provide much needed healthcare for the many children in the BC and Yukon area," said Joshua Lau, YesStyle's CEO and Founder. "The Chinese Community in Vancouver has been tremendously active in its support of the hospital and we'd like to unite with our BC friends and customers in supporting this meaningful cause."
The BC Children's Hospital is currently engaged in the Campaign for BC Children, a $200 million project to build a new, modern hospital that meets the emotional and physical needs of all children in British Columbia and ensure they have access to a consistent standard of pediatric healthcare. Children in British Columbia make over 8,000 visits to BC Children's Hospital's Oncology, Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Clinics each year.
Last year, 135 children in British Columbia were newly diagnosed with cancer. Today, even with advanced research and treatment, cancer is still the number one killing disease for children in North America.
The Chinese Canadian Miracle Weekend organizing committee showed appreciation of YesStyle's sponsorship. Said a committee representative, "Without the generosity of our donors, we couldn't offer the specialized medical care our patients truly need."
