Gardere Partner Named a Finalist for State Bar of Texas Professionalism Award

The award, presented annually since 1994, recognizes College members who demonstrate a dedication to professionalism, elevate the prestige of the legal profession, promote legal ethics, further continuing education of lawyers, and serve as an incentive to others. The award is named in honor of Temple, Texas, attorney Jim D. Bowmer, the originator of the idea of the State Bar College and a co-founder of the College.
“I appreciate being considered for this award, and am honored to be among the finalists,” says Mr. Cooper, a partner at Gardere whose practice focuses on the representation of policyholders in insurance coverage litigation and arbitration. “I am personally committed to professionalism in my own practice, and have always tried to mentor other lawyers to do the same through my bar-related activities.”
Mr. Cooper serves on the Board of the Garland R. Walker American Inn of Court, an organization that promotes civility and professionalism in the practice of law. Last year, he earned the Houston Bar Association’s President’s Award in recognition of his work as co-chair of the HBA’s Professionalism Committee. He also is a founding member of the Houston Society of Policyholder Insurance Coverage Lawyers and an associate member of the Risk & Insurance Management Society.
