HYC Introduces LC FBG Optical Reflector

HYC Co., Ltd, is a national Hi-tech optoelectronics company, has just introduced LC optical reflector. HYC's optical reflector is an ideal optical termination for link monitoring of FTTx networks. The reflector can be integrated in an adapter or pigtail version with connectors to be SC, LC.

FBG(Fiber Bragg Grating) optical reflector is a wavelength selective reflector. It is usually installed in the front end of the optical network ONU to test the entire optical link. Compared with the thin film filter(TFF) reflector, FBG optical reflector has different application characteristics as the following showing.

Creating high reflectivity on the PON side

FBG optical reflector is to use fiber Bragg grating to reflect nearly 100% of the test light pulse sent by OTDR on the OLT side of optical link terminal. Meanwhile, the wavelength that does not meet the condition will pass through the reflector normally without disturbing. In a word, it reflects particular wavelengths of light and transmits all others. For example, reflector at 1650nm reflects all wavelengths from 1645 to 1655nm and transmits the wavelengths from 1260 to 1625nm. When OTDR detects the presence of the reflected detection signal, it indicates that the optical network connection from the central office to the user terminal is normal. Otherwise, the value of the reflected signal is too low or there is no reflection, it indicates that the optical fiber of the users is damaged or broken. It provides a high reflectance for the monitoring signal at the termination of a passive optical network (PON).

With its low insertion loss in the transmission wavelength range and high reflectivity in the reflection wavelength range, it is the ideal optical termination for FTTx network link monitoring, FTTX reflectors are suitable for both point to point (PTP) and point to multipoint (PTMP) networks.

High stability and reliability

Fiber Bragg grating reflector is to use the photosensitivity of optical fiber materials to put the fiber Bragg grating in the fiber core. The fiber goes through the ceramic ferrule, and the grating area is completely encapsulated in the ceramic ferrule core. During the process of reflector insertion and removal, the fiber Bragg grating will not be affected, and will not be affected by dirt. It's very stable to use.

Interacting with conventional adapters, very convenient to use

HYC's optical reflectors have SC and LC type, which interact with conventional adapters and are very convenient to use.

With the increase of FTTH project,the optical network users are increasing. How to detect the optical network fault quickly and accurately is particularly important for the maintenance of the optical network. FBG optical reflector is an ideal choice for optical fiber line monitoring, which can be widely used in FTTx network, PON network, reflectivity test of the central machine room, link detection of communication system, etc.
