HYC Co., Ltd, a leading global supplier of optical components for optical networks, has launched its 1×N MEMS optical switch and modules.

The optical switch is an optical device that enables signals in optical fibers or integrated optical circuits to be selectively switched from one circuit to another, and it is one of the most important components of an optical network. MEMS Optical Switch is based on micro-electro-mechanical system(MEMS) technology, using the micromirrors to control and switch the optical path. MEMS optical switch provides network system suppliers with the flexible of changing optical network.

MEMS Optical Switch is an ideal component for OADM,OXC,system monitoring and protection. Each wavelength in the 1XN switch can be switched to any of the N output ports, the switch can be used in a fully flexible OADM (optical add/drop multiplexer) with multiple Add / Drop fiber ports. Each port carries single or multiple wavelengths.

Compared with traditional optomechanical switches, MEMS optical switch features compact size, polarization dependent loss and power consumption. It can be easy to integrate into a high-density optical communication system and provides fast switching speeds. The switching time is ≤30ms. It is available in any 1×N configuration, such as 1×2,1×4 ~ 1×16.

HYC provides not only an optical switch component but also MEMS optical switch modules and MCS modules, which can be integrated with WDM, PLC or PD.
