Physical vapor deposition (PVD) is a thin film decomposition technique, which vaporizes solid metal in a vacuum environment. It is used as a pure metal or alloy coating on electrically conductive metals.   In PVD, the material undergoes a three-step procedure that first includes condensation, followed by vaporization, and back to a condensed thin film stage.
