What: In support of local fire departments and through the coordination of Robert J. Varese, Ex-Chief, Northport Fire Department, Gershow Recycling is donating 35 vehicles to be used in the 4th Annual Chuck Varese Vehicle Extrication Tournament. Thirty-two teams from 18 fire departments will take part in the tournament.

When: Saturday, May 14, 2011
9 a.m. — Tournament begins
12:30 p.m. — Photo ops with local elected officials

Where: Northport Fire Department Training Grounds — Steer’s Pit
Corner of Steers Avenue and Clipper Drive
Northport, NY

Directions: From the East: LIE to Exit 53 toward Bay Shore/Kings Park. Take LIE Service Road for approximately one mile, then take ramp to Sagtikos Parkway. Keep right at the fork to continue toward and merge onto Sagtikos Pkwy. Continue onto Sunken Meadow Pkwy. for approximately 6 miles. Take Exit SM5 W to merge onto Fort Salonga Rd./Rte. 25A W toward Huntington. Go approximately 4.5 miles. Turn right at Main St. After 0.7 mile, turn right at Ocean Ave. Go 0.6 mile and make a left at Steers Ave. Steer’s Pit is one-fifth of a mile down.
