Two Riderwood Retirement Community Chefs in Silver Spring, MD, Are Designated 'Certified Executive Chefs' by American Culinary Federation; Just 15% of Nation's Chefs Have Received This High Honor
SILVER SPRING, MD (May 5, 2011) – Riderwood retirement community’s Executive Chef Victor Cirrincione and Chef Elliot Satin have successfully completed all the requirements to become designated Certified Executive Chefs by the American Culinary Federation. A Certified Executive Chef is one of the highest honors bestowed by the American Culinary Federation,. Just 15% of the nation’s chef’s have received this designation.Established in 1929, the American Culinary Federation is the largest and most prestigious organization of professional chefs and cooks. Chef Victor and Chef Elliot will be honored by residents and staff at a May 19 reception in Riderwood’s Town Center Celebrations Catering Room, from 1:30 to 2:30p.m.
A minimum of 5 years of experience as an executive chef is required for the Certified Executive Chef designation by the American culinary Federation. Candidates must have completed coursework in food safety, nutrition and supervisory management, and must engage in continued professional development in order to maintain their certification.
“This is a great honor and it could not have happened to two better people,” said Magdy Mishraky, Director of Dining Services for Riderwood. “Chef Victor and Chef Elliot are both passionate about their jobs and always deflect praise to the teams that they work with. It is a great individual accomplishment that they will be able to take with them wherever their career paths may lead and it also a reflection of the type of staff we have here at Riderwood. I could not be more proud of these two deserving gentlemen.”
The Dining Services team at Riderwood is composed of 600 employees who comprise an operation of 18 on-campus restaurants featuring a wide variety of dining experiences from formal to casual for residents. The Dining Services team also includes a catering group that creates menus and prepares appetizers, meals and deserts for special events such as wedding receptions and private parties.
