Shridhar University Pilani Rajasthan Entrepreneurship Talk by Prof SB Misra School of Managerial Excellence NLUO Cuttack

The issue that Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Culture is a matter of interaction between Technology, Progress and Growth has been one of the top ranking discussions globally.

Shridhar University Centre for Innovation in Science and Technology aims to nurture the not only much needed but also very highly desired entrepreneurial culture among students to make them job providers rather than job seekers.

On March 24, 2011 Prof SB Misra delivered an invited lecture on Entrepreneurship to the students and faculty of Shridhar University Pilani Rajasthan. Prof. Misra obtained Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Punjab Agriculture University and PhD in Business Administration from Utkal University. He has 35 years of experience in teaching, research and consultancy in management, entrepreneurship and small business development, promotion of industries in farm and non farm sector, rural arts and crafts and allied product/ services sector.

He has worked for 5 years as the Director cum-Chief Executive of Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (IEDO), Bhubaneswar engaged in institution building and managing a state level organisation, promoting small / medium enterprises. He has over a decade of Teaching experience at BITS Pilani where he played a crucial role in partnering with the Wadhwani Foundation for establishing the National Entrepreneurship Network - NEN and had spearheaded the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Business Incubation Project funded by Govt. of India.

Presently, he is Adjunct Professor, School of Managerial Excellence at National Law University, Orissa – NLUO, Cuttack and is working on a project to establish an Intellectual Property Rights Facilitation Centre at NLUO, with funding support from MSME, Government of India. Recipient of MC Shetalvad Trophy, (1980) by LIC India, Prof Misra has participated in several national and international seminars which include International Conference on Entrepreneurship organized by Business and Economic Society International (BESI) at Flagstaff, Arizona USA in July, 2005. He has also delivered lecture on Business Incubation at the Department of Business Administration, New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, USA in January, 2010.

His teaching and research areas focus on Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Strategy and General Management. In addition to his association as member of Consultancy Development Centre, New Delhi, Prof Misra also has been Member of Talent Evaluation Team for University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi.

In his unique interactive style, Prof Misra in his enlightening lecture pointed out that while the opportunity is enormous, there are certain concerns that an entrepreneur in India must address before starting a new venture. He suggested that a PEST study, covering the Political, Economical, Socio-cultural and Technological dimensions of the business could go a long way in planning and executing one’s ideas. His talk touched upon issues such as mindset required at the level of the individual entrepreneur as well as the role played by national culture, corporate culture and professional culture in fostering entrepreneurship.

Prof BR Natarajan Pro Vice Chancellor introduced Prof Misra to the audience and also proposed the vote of thanks.
