Using Clinical Surveillance Software to Prevent Infections and Medication Errors

Bellevue, Wash. – Wolters Kluwer Health announced today that Oaklawn Hospital in south-central Michigan has selected Sentri7 for its clinical decision support.

Sentri7 web-based software gives hospital staff a single point of access to lab results, medication records and patient demographics, data that previously resided in different systems. Clinicians can write rules against the data to identify and flag at-risk patients.

"Oaklawn Hospital continuously strives to provide the highest level of care and safety for our patients," said David Goedde, Director of Pharmacy Services at Oaklawn Hospital. "Managing complex drug regimens is a critical element of our patient safety procedures and the Sentri7 is very helpful in that regard."

Sentri7 can help streamline infection prevention workflows including isolation management, healthcare-associated infection (HAI) investigation and National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) reporting.

"Sentri7 gives us a real time window into what is happening with our patients' labs and medicines. The rules and reports that we build in Sentri7 are an essential part of preventing our patients from acquiring infections," said Sarah LaSalle, Infection Preventionist at Oaklawn Hospital. "We feel the Sentri7 helps us better partner with our physicians in providing our patients the highest quality of care."
