Optic Fiber Reflector for monitoring FTTx system

04-01-2019 11:29 AM CET | Business, Economy, Finances, Banking & Insurance

Press release from: HYC Co., Ltd

A fiber optic reflector is an optical passive device constructed in a short
segment of optical fiber that reflects particular wavelengths of light and
transmits all others that are not within the specific reflection wavelength
range.

Common types include adapter type and pigtail type. HYC's SC reflector
is a kind of reflector based on SC connector package. SC/APC and SC/PC
interfaces are available.

The reflector for 1650 nm reflects all wavelengths from 1645 nm to 1655
nm. With its low insertion loss at the transmission wavelength range and
high reflectance at the reflected wavelength range it is the ideal optical
termination for link monitoring of FTTx networks , FTTx reflectors are
suitable for both point to point (PTP) and point to multipoint (PTMP)
networks. They are preferably installed at the subscriber’s homes in
order to highlight these positions in the OTDR trace by distinct
reflections of the test signal.

HYC SC reflector has a transmission wavelength (1260~1625nm), high
reflectivity, low insertion loss (≦1.4dB), high return loss (≧
35dB),compact design and more features.

Application:
1.Create high reflectance at the termination of a PON without disturbing
traffic
2.Test reflectance from the central office
3.Check optical continuity of subscriber when being added or when
troubleshooting

With the implementation of the fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) project, the
coverage of the optical network is getting larger and larger, involving
more and more users. Therefore, it is particularly important to detect
and maintain the fault of the entire optical network quickly and
accurately. Fiber optic reflector will be widely used in FTTx network, PON
OTDR test, central office reflectivity test, communication system link
detection and so on.

What is C band and L band in WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing)?
WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) is a transmission technology that uses a single optical fiber to simultaneously transmit multiple optical carriers of different wavelengths in optical fiber communications. When the wavelength of light is different, the transmission loss in the fiber is also different. In order to reduce the fiber loss, it’s important to find the most suitable transmission wavelength. After a long period of exploration and testing, light with a
A Comprehensive Overview of APON,BPON,EPON,GPON
PON stands for passive optical network, which means that the ODN (optical distribution network) between the OLT (optical line terminal) and the ONU (optical network unit) does not have any active equipment, and only uses optical fibers and passive components.PON mainly uses a point-to-multipoint network structure, which is the main technology to realize FTTB / FTTH. PON technology contains a lot of content, and iteratively updated constantly. The development of xPON
HYC Will Showcase Innovative Products at ECOC 2019
The ECOC (European Conference on Optical Communication) exhibition is the largest optical communications exhibition in Europe. This exhibition held in different European cities every September. As a leading optical component manufacturer with 19 years of R&D and manufacturing experience, HYC will participate in this event with our latest technical
DWDM for Fiber Optic Capacity Expansion
Dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) is the most popular WDM technology with telecommunications and cable companies because of its ability to handle so much data. It helps to expand the capacity of an existing fiber optic backbones and get it ready for 5G deployments. How do DWDM works? It combines and transmits multiple signals of different wavelengths simultaneously on the same fiber. For example, if an optical fiber has a capacity of
