Teletower's Andrew Richards receiving the Innovation Award from Alan Guthrie

Teletower's Andrew Richards receiving the Innovation Award from Alan Guthrie

The Teletower, the innovative new mobile access solution, has beaten a record 36 entries to win the prestigious ‘Innovation Award 2011’ at this year’s Executive Hire Show, held in Coventry’s Ricoh Arena on 9th and 10th February 2011.

The Teletower won the category in which judges were looking for ‘genuinely new technological and design advantages that address issues that hirers and end users are concerned about.’ Exhibited by UK distributor, Zarges (UK) Ltd, the Teletower is a telescopic scaffold tower that fits in to the boot of an estate car, can be erected in three minutes by one person, and offers users working heights of up to four metres.

“We’re really pleased our innovative new product has been recognised as something which can genuinely improve working conditions,” says Teletower Sales Director, Andy Richards. “Especially when we were up against such stiff competition.”

This year the Innovation award attracted an unprecedented number of nominations – 36 – of which a team of five independent judges shortlisted to 13 products. The overall winner was then selected by visitors to the Executive Hire Show.

The cutting edge products were judged on the practical benefits they could achieve in terms of key areas such as health and safety, energy efficiency, environmental awareness, machinery servicing, and compliance with regulations governing equipment usage. The ability to help hirers win more business and to meet customer needs was also considered.

“The judges shortlisted this product because of its ease of operation and effective work at height solution that can be transported and stored very easily,” says a spokesperson for the Executive Hire Show. “The judges also noted that aluminium and GRP versions are available, extending the potential applications for this product.”
