Brussels, Bruxelles ( openpr ) March 15, 2011 - The Smart Energy Demand Coalition (SEDC) is a newly formed industry group, representing the entire energy value chain and cutting across all segments of the electricity industry. The SEDC is dedicated to promoting the requirements of Demand Side Programs, in order to further the development of the Smart Grid and ensure improved end-consumer benefits.

This SEDC ( http://www.smartenergydemand.eu ) Launch Event will discuss the central place of demand side programs for the successful implementation of Smart Grids in Europe with policy representatives and industry leaders.

The SEDC ( http://www.smartenergydemand.eu ) supports the 2020 objectives: The Smart Grid is widely seen in Europe as a means to reach its 2020 objectives: 20% lowered energy consumption, 20% lowered CO2 emissions and 20% use of renewable energy resources. Intelligent cooperation between consumption and generation, acting as equal partners in a holistic energy eco-system, forms the heart of the intelligence of the Smart Grid.

SEDC works to educate and provide information to policymakers, utilities, electricity retailers, the media, the financial community and other stakeholders on how demand response and smart grid technologies such as smart meters can help modernize our electricity system, improve functioning of wholesale and retail markets, and provide customers with new information and options for managing their electricity use.
