Multi-Million Dollar Remodeling and New Construction Underway

( EMAILWIRE.COM, March 06, 2007 ) Beverly Hills, CA -- Hollywood’s legendary Sunset Gower Studios, originally founded by movie mogul Harry Cohn, as Columbia Pictures in 1921, is undergoing an ambitious multi-million dollar major facelift, remodeling and new construction under the leadership of its CEO, Emmy award-winning producer Robert Papazian.

The 16 acre lot is Hollywood’s largest independent studio, dubbed the “home of the independent” film and television production companies, employing almost 3,000 creative, crafts and production people during the busy film and TV seasons of the year.

Among the many improvements is the modernization of its 12 fully equipped soundstages, with newly redecorated adjacent dressing rooms, 300,000 square feet of modernized executive and back-offices, also providing facilities for many Network TV series and being the location of choice for Ad agencies, producing commercials and music videos.

On-lot parking has been expanded to accommodate 1500 cars and a new 96,000 square feet, six story state-of-the-art building is under construction to house Technicolor’s post-production facilities, scheduled for completion this year.
The studio has also created and installed a huge cyclorama: a seventy-five by forty-two, by twenty foot high pre-lit optical cyc – permanently on the sound stage, to be used by production companies taping, shooting film, for features, commercials and music videos. For their convenience, a “green room” with large windows and a view of the proceedings is also being constructed. Future plans include having state-of-the-art back-lit chroma key blue and green screens on tracks with blue screen and adjacent green room, making it the foremost independent studio, containing complete resources for the production companies to utilize.

The Sunset Gower Studios lot, the home of such classics as Frank Capra’s “It Happened One Night,” “Funny Girl” and “The Caine Mutiny,” has continued to produce top new films such as Garry Marshall’s “Georgia Rule” (Jane Fonda, Lindsay Lohan), “The Good Shepherd” (Robert DeNiro) and “The Good German” (George Clooney). The NBC-TV hit series, "Heroes" and Showtime Network’s series,“Dexter” also occupy several sound stages as have “Deal or No Deal,” “Comics Unleashed,” “Six Feet Under,” “JAG,” “Married With Children,” “Soap,” and “I Dream of Jeannie.”

The rebirth and expansion of Sunset Gower Studios, an icon of the entertainment industry’s renowned and fabled heritage is part of the story of Hollywood. For a more detailed look, please visit their new website www.sunsetgower.com
