Redcliffe Online Marketing Expert Gets Local Small Business Leaders Up to Speed

02-24-2011 06:03 PM CET | Advertising, Media Consulting, Marketing Research

Press release from: Redcliffe Marketing Labs

Mick Cullen, founder of Redcliffe Marketing Labs, arranged and chaired a meetup of the Redcliffe Small Business Web Marketing Group on Wednesday 16th February, in the “GodFather Room” at Rabottini’s Italian Restaurant, in Scarborough, Qld.

Mr Cullen delivered a presentation on how to better market small business online, especially with the use of video channel sites like YouTube and social media sites, followed by an open discussion to share ideas. Then he led an exercise where four videos were made for the attendees who had prepared a script beforehand, explaining the fundamentals of creating an online video and showing how to launch a totally new marketing approach for their business.

The 14 attendees were shown how marketing strategies in Australia are shifting rapidly to a more cost-effective online model of business promotion, away from cost-intensive traditional media such as TV, magazines and newspapers. The focus was on sites like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, which allow businesses to target their message direct to the user cheaply, effectively and continuously (not merely for the length of an ad campaign.)

Many business leaders were surprised to learn that YouTube gets more search requests than Yahoo and Bing combined and that every day 2 Billion videos are served.

Attendees were also made aware of the sharp increase of Australians using these sites ( 81% in fact) and how they are accessing them from phones and other hand-held devices as well as computers.

It was demonstrated that business owners generally have not yet recognized the need to hitch themselves to the wagon and may miss the journey completely if they don’t act soon, before their competitors do.

To finish, the words of one of the attendees: “Extremely interesting - lots of new stuff for me!!! A great learning curve!!”

About Redcliffe Marketing Labs:

Redcliffe Marketing Labs is home for an enthusiast for all things online marketing.

What I love doing is helping small local businesses put a foot into the online world and for them to see the difference it makes for them. The opportunities are immense and in most cases the cost is so much less than traditional media.

The online world is where customers are hanging out so if you are a small business you are missing out if you are not there. Its the little things like claiming your Google business listing, registering a domain name so you can have a branded email address and building a following on social media that set you apart from the competition.

I purposefully only take on a very small number of businesses at anytime and this means I can look for business owners with a real passion for what they do and help them leverage this. In most cases it is just knowing what to do – which I’ll show you. In other cases its just a matter of there not being the free time to do the things you need to do – I’ll either help you do it or help you find others to help.

I don’t have shopfront or fixed staff expenses so can provide you with fantastic value if your business is a good match to what I’m looking for.

If you are a passionate small business owner in the Redcliffe region and want to take small steps or to just dive straight into getting your business rocking online get in contact on 0415 428 777.

Cheers

Mick
