Radicon group joins Asian market-leader in industrial transmissions

The Radicon group, a UK-based provider of standard industrial gearing products, is now part of Indian industrial transmissions group Elecon Engineering Company Ltd.

For the Radicon group, which includes Radicon and Sweden-based Benzlers, the change in ownership brings strong backing from one of the world’s leading gear manufacturing companies – and, crucially, new resources for product development and distribution. For Elecon, Radicon and Benzlers represent opportunities to accelerate its global growth ambitions - providing access to new markets (especially in North America and Europe), as well as broadening the group’s overall product portfolio.

Radicon and Benzlers are two of the most recognised brands in the global power transmission industry. Their team of expert engineers joins Elecon Engineering with world-class expertise in gear manufacturing and process engineering.
Intellectual property rights on all Radicon and Benzlers products remain with the companies and the supply chain will continue as is, ensuring the quality and innovation customers expect from the brands.

The Radicon and Benzlers teams remain the same too - from management through to sales, continuing long and trusted customer-focused relationships. Radicon will operate under the name Radicon UK Limited (previously David Brown Radicon) and the UK team will remain at the Huddersfield site of David Brown Gear Systems until a new location is found in the region.

UK-based Radicon is one of three business units within the Radicon group (the others are Benzlers and Radicon Thailand), that provides pre-engineered gear systems to a range of industries worldwide under an established, globally-recognised brand. Industries served are - among others - Mining & Quarrying, Material Handling, Power Generation, Pulp and Paper, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Food & Beverage and Electronic Drives & Equipment.

Elecon Engineering Company Ltd is Asia’s largest manufacturer of industrial transmissions. From a modest start in the design and manufacture of elevators and conveyors, from which the company derives its name, Elecon has grown considerably over five decades and now services a broad range of industry sectors - such as Fertilisers, Cement, Coal/Power Generation, Chemicals, Steel Plant and Port Mechanisation. The Radicon group deal represents Elecon Engineering’s first international acquisition.
