Eco Vision Awarded Patent for Home Compostable Eco Tube Package

Crescent City, CA February 10, 2011: Eco Vision announced today that the
company’s founders have assigned their patent for the home compostable Eco Tube package to the company. Issued as U.S. utility patent #7819251 by the U.S. Patent and Trademark office, it is formally named “paper tube packaging with open end and coated cap.” (See accompanying image)

The Eco Tube provides an ideal, eco-friendly packaging solution for lip balms and many other products, such as cosmetics, adhesives, lubricants, stain sticks, and other products formulated for packaging in a tube. Eco Vision designed and manufactures the package, made 100% from certified post-consumer waste paper, biodegradable adhesives and coatings, and can be printed with soy inks.

The Eco Tube, used for Organic Essence’s lip balms, won a coveted Green Packy Award, sponsored by Whole Foods Green Mission Project, at the Natural Foods Expo in the Spring of 2010. During the award presentation to CEO Ellery West, Tom Wright, Project Manager for Whole Foods Green Mission noted, “I composted the Eco Tube package in my back yard and it only required two weeks to fully compost.”

West and his wife Gail currently have over 10 eco-friendly product solutions in the patent process including toothpaste tubes, produce baskets, jars, pumps/sprayers, and bottles. The company plans to launch manufacturing operations to produce biodegradable, compostable packaging for a variety of U.S. product marketers by the fourth quarter of 2011.
