Press release from: Quest CE

MILWAUKEE – February 8, 2011 – Quest CE, premier provider of continuing education and compliance training, is proud to announce their Wisconsin 4-Hour Annuity Training Course has been approved and meets the State’s one-time, four (4) hour annuity training course requirement. This course is live and available for resident CE credit.

Effective May 1, 2011, a producer who sells annuities must complete a one-time, four (4) credit annuity training course. Existing producers must have the training completed before November 1, 2011 to remain compliant. Newly licensed producers on or after May 1, 2011, must complete the training before they can sell annuities.

Quest CE’s Wisconsin Annuity Training Course will feature the following topics:

• Types of annuities
• Identification of the parties to an annuity
• How fixed, variable and indexed annuity contract provisions affect the consumers
• The application of income taxation of qualified and non-qualified annuities
• The primary uses of annuities
• Appropriate sales practices, and replacement and disclosure requirements

The training is required for resident and non-resident producers. Non-residents who satisfy the annuity training requirements of another state, substantially similar to Wisconsin’s law, will be deemed compliant for Wisconsin’s requirement.

Carriers are responsible for verifying their producers have completed the required training. In addition, carriers are required to provide product-specific training and training materials that explain all material features of their annuity products.

The State of Wisconsin has adopted the NAIC Suitability in Annuity Transactions Model Regulation recommendation. This Model Regulation was adopted to set standards and procedures for suitable annuity recommendations and to require insurers to establish a system to supervise recommendations so that the insurance needs and financial objectives of consumers are appropriately addressed. Quest CE is proud to offer specific annuity courses for Iowa and Oklahoma, whom have also adopted the NAIC recommendation.

Dedicated to providing compliance driven solutions, Quest CE additionally offers specific annuity, ethics and law courses, approved to meet state-specific requirements. State-specific courses are accessible for California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas and Wisconsin. Additional ethics courses are obtainable to assist producers in completing mandatory ethics requirements.
