vismath.eu – A new site of mathematics

The successful MathFilm Festival 2008 and the participants’ great interest raised the idea of providing mathematical multimedia content constantly on an internet platform. Inspired by Prof. Dr. Konrad Polthier, the mathematicians Tobias Pfeiffer and Anne Kahnt as well as the business economist Simon Krohn formed a team and founded the company vismath GmbH in mid-2010. Embedded in a network of film-makers vismath combines mathematical expertise and professional presentation of the topics.
vismath unites the entire spectrum of mathematical film – including Hollywood blockbusters and educational films as well as animated films. In addition to standard versions special licenses for education are available. One of the more than 30 films already launched on vismath.eu is “MESH”, which takes its viewers on a journey through discrete geometry. The range of products is complemented by books on popular science topics. In cooperation with the Freie Universität Berlin sheets for three-dimensional models of geometrical bodies have been developed and are now successfully used in schools. The set of model sheets and the complete range of products are permanently extended and can be ordered in the online shop on vismath.eu.
vismath GmbH offers a wide range of products with mathematical content in different formats (movies, books and 3D geometries for doing handicrafts). On the online platform vismath.eu mathematics is presented in an understandable and fascinating way. A new website for everybody who is fascinated by mathematics, teachers, schools and institutions with the goal of adding new experiences to studying mathematics.
