After World War 2, it was transformed into a nursing home before being sold to the well-known high-end developer, our client Silvio Karpowitz, in 2015. It is named after Florence Booth, activist and women’s campaigner and wife of Bramwell Booth, 2nd Director of The Salvation Army. The concept behind the restoration is the integration of art inspired by the gardens of neighbouring villa colonies in Babelsberg and Glienicke. German visual artist Stefan Rinck is going to construct a 5-metre high sandstone sculpture as a fountain which will be the centrepiece of the garden and children’s play area.” More information on the art & design concept here.

A glamorous neighbourhood in a natural setting

Nearby is Guterfelder Haussee, a private lake, beach and forest area which is popular with locals and you’ll find plenty of old-fashioned glamour in this part of town. Since 1990, Babelsberg Palace has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Palaces and Parks of Potsdam and Berlin". Babelsberg film studio is just 10 minutes by car from the villa and if you want to do some luxury shopping head to the Stern-Center in Potsdam.

Stahnsdorf is famous for its military cemetery, one of the most diverse we’ve ever seen with beautiful mausoleums – graves of mainly British POW’s who died in captivity, a 13th-century Norwegian style church with Art Nouveau windows and miles of nature walks – give yourself at least three hours to explore. It is full of stories of famous lives: painters, writers, entrepreneurs and the Berlin bourgeoise including illustrator Heinrich Zille, industrialist Werner Von Siemens, actor Manfred Krug, and Bauhaus Director Walter Gropius. This year Berlin is celebrating two major events: the Bauhaus centenary and the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
