Accreditation of Colorado Christian University's Nursing Program Increases BSN Degree Options

Newly Accredited Program Helps Meet Demand for New Nurses During Nationwide Shortage

Lakewood, Colorado; (January 2011)— Colorado Christian University, a fully accredited, private university near Denver, announced its recent significant milestone of being granted a full five-year national accreditation for the University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN). This designation comes from the U.S. Secretary of Education-recognized Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and the five-year term is the longest granted by CCNE for a new nursing program.

The accreditation of Colorado Christian University's Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN) comes at a time when the nation is facing a critical shortage of nursing professionals and an increase in demand for care. CCU seeks to help fill the void with well-trained, compassionate nurse leaders.

The BSN is a pre-licensure program geared toward those pursuing a nursing career but who are not yet registered nurses. This on-campus, state-of-the art bachelor in nursing program combines theory, laboratory, simulation, and clinical learning to prepare exceptionally trained nurse leaders. CCU designed the BSN nursing programs to easily accommodate the needs of working adults.

The University also offers an entirely online RN-BSN track designed for registered nurses (RNs) who need to complete their bachelor’s degrees. The RN to BSN online classes are offered through CCU's College of Adult and Graduate Studies and designed to help the RN attain a bachelor's degree and further equip them to work in an increasingly challenging medical landscape. The RN-BSN nursing program is designed to fit into already busy schedules and consist of classes taken one at a time in a 5-week format.

CCU's nursing degree programs are led by Dr. Barbara White, RN, who is recognized for her extensive international teaching and nursing-education experience.
