PHOENIX (January 14, 2011) – The International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp) today announced the names of twelve eating disorder experts who will lead the Masters’ Training Series, a special series of ten workshops for attendees of the 2011 iaedp Symposium. Starting on March 3rd at the Pointe Hilton at Squaw Peak in Phoenix, Arizona and scheduled throughout the conference, the workshops will focus closely on a variety of eating disorder treatment topics and is included in all registration fees. The faculty consists of clinicians who are highly respected, well recognized, and unquestionable experts in the field of eating disorders treatment.

Some of the topics discussed include anorexia recovery, intuitive eating, alternative treatment therapies, undermining traits in eating disorder patients, mindfulness, dealing with the demands of health insurance companies, the problems associated with evidence-based interventions and co-occurring conditions. The workshop leaders include: Emmett R. Bishop Jr., MD, CEDS; Ralph E. Carson, RD, PhD; Carolyn K. Costin, MA, MEd, CEDS, FAE; Craig L. Johnson PhD, CEDS; Anita Johnston PhD; Sondra Kronberg, MS, RD, CEDRD; Kimberli McCallum, MD, CEDS, FAPA; Lisa Kantor, JD; Mark Schwartz ScD; Theresa Chesnut, MS and Kevin Wandler, MD, CEDS. Carolyn Costin will also facilitate a panel discussion with other leaders in the field on evidenced based alternative therapies as a part of this series.
“No matter what kind of eating disorder treatment training you’ve already received, the Masters’ Training Series promises to offer a new perspective as well as valuable knowledge,” Harken added. “I encourage all participants at the Symposium to make use of these workshops; they are a part of the registration fees.”
