Online sales - late deliveries at 25%

Market Research Company Toluna have found that more than a quarter of consumers who placed orders online before Christmas received their goods late. Out of the 2000 people who took part in the survey over 70% said that they had purchased goods online in the run up to Christmas. Of these a staggering 27% of respondents said that they had received their goods late.

Online retailers of all types of products from office supplies to children’s toys were faced with a difficult set of circumstances. The usual increase in demand in the run up to Christmas was made worse by the snow and the disruption this cased to the delivery networks. 28% of respondents who had received their goods late said that they would never buy again from the retailer who had failed them.

The market place for office supplies is a very competitive one. Customers expect to see a huge range of goods at low prices, to enjoy a smooth checkout and should the need arise for it – be met with excellent customer service. Online stationary and office products retailer theofficesupermarketonline.com fared far better than most and received very few complaints for late delivery. Messages were displayed prominently across their suite of sites to let customers know when they could expect delivery – with the goal of keeping the customer informed.

Commercial director Chris Armstrong said “the key to keeping our customers happy is keeping them informed, some delays due to bad weather were unavoidable but where delays of more than a day were predicted we let our customers know”

We deliver over 20,000 office products all at discounted prices (up to 85% off RRP!) to UK businesses through our unique network of stationery experts.
