Intercare Therapy Strives to Meet Changing Needs of Disabled Californians

As they move into their 32nd year, Intercare Therapy is making changes in their business model, focusing an improving the quality of service families and children with special needs.
Los Angeles, CA -- January 13, 2011 – Intercare Therapy is changing their infrastructure and management style to address the changing needs of California’s developmentally delayed population. They have launched new behavioral training programs to support their staff in the field.
Intercare Therapy believes that improvements in quality lead to improvements throughout the organization.

”Above all, quality must be understood as a management style, and an infrastructure has to exist that supports both the work quality of the individual and teamwork between our therapists, case specialists and supervisors in order to best serve families and children with special needs,” wrote Claudia Schenke, Intercare’s executive/marketing assistant.

This fall, Intercare started an intensive training program for their supervisors and therapists in the theory and improved application of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Supervisors attend a weekly supervision session led by Doctorate level BCBA clinicians. Training spans practices including Functional Behavior Assessment, Function-Based Interventions, Skill Assessment and Teaching Procedures.

Intercare Therapy also recently created the “Case Specialist” job. This position reflects their understanding that caregiver training is fundamental for the child’s behavioral improvement. Schenke said they believe that it is their responsibility to ensure that families are equipped with the most effective tools to guarantee the success of their child.

With their new training programs and position in place, Intercare Therapy will continue to provide high quality programs and set the standard for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities addressing the child individualized goals in both the home, clinic, and school settings.
