Datex FootPrint ® WMS Announces 21 CFR Part 11 Compliance

Datex, a supply chain software developer, recently announced a major improvement to its WMS product, FootPrint ®. FootPrint® WMS now provides an audit trail and electronic signature, making it compliant with FDA 21 CFR Part 11. This change directly benefits clients in the pharmaceutical, food, medical device, biotech, third party logistics and other industries.
This high level of functionality is typically only found on high end Tier 1 enterprise level warehouse management systems with higher total cost of ownership. Food industry experts often encourage the use of an integrated hardware and software approach in order to create good manufacturing practices (GMP) as covered in FDA’s 21 CFR 110.80. The number of highly publicized food recalls has renewed pressure on food businesses to become compliant with FDA 21 CFR Part 11. This requires them to track and trace ingredients, monitor and control key process variables such as temperature and track products as they are shipped. Although using digital recordkeeping and electronic signatures is not currently mandated by the FDA, it expedites record retrieval, saving time and labor.
