Press release from: Sportsworld

International hospitality and event services group, Sportsworld, has been recognised by a panel of event industry experts for the delivery and management of their official Wimbledon programme.

Sportsworld scooped the Bronze award in their category for Best Hospitality Event at The Eventia Awards which were held at the Hilton Park Lane on Friday 26th November 2010.

The Eventia Awards honour outstanding business-to-business and business-to-consumer events including corporate events, product launches, company exhibitions, presentations, hospitality, celebratory events, meetings and conferences of all sizes and formats both overseas and in the UK. The Awards are now recognised as the key awards and premier networking night for the whole industry.

Sportsworld is appointed by the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) as official hospitality agent and overseas tour operator to The Championships, Wimbledon. Now in its 19th year of appointment, Sportsworld markets, sells and operates a wide range of corporate hospitality and leisure packages to the exclusive Fairway Village facility.

Sportsworld took the Bronze Award in a tough category which collectively showed strong commercial strategy in a time of economic downturn, and one where corporate budgets are under pressure.

Jeff Hunter, Operations Director at Sportsworld, commented: “We are delighted that our Wimbledon experience has once again been recognised by industry experts as one of the best in Event Hospitality. It’s a great endorsement of our team’s hard work, meticulous planning behind the scenes throughout the year, as well as our onsite delivery”.

This year’s Awards were a glitzy affair, with over 800 top events industry professionals celebrating in spectacular style. The awards were hosted by BBC Breakfast regulars Bill Turnbull and Sian Williams, who brought a genuine warmth to the proceedings and the show opener Paije Richardson, from the X-factor, really got the evening off to a fantastic start!

Eventia Chairman, Mark Saxby, commented: “These awards recognise the best and most innovative International and UK based events in our industry. It was refreshing to see such an impressive volume of high quality entries submitted to this year’s Awards. All the finalists and winners have set new standards of excellence and serve as testimony to the energy and enthusiasm that is currently driving face-to-face communication to the forefront of marketing strategy”.
