Townsend Security’s key management solution, Alliance Key Manager, obtains FIPS 140-2 level 1 certification

Olympia, WA - Townsend Security, Inc., a leading provider of data protection solutions for the enterprise, announces its Alliance Key Manager appliance has earned the FIPS 140-2, level 1 certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The company’s AES encryption solutions are also NIST certified across all enterprise platforms. The Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2(FIPS 140-2) is a computer security standard that describes US Federal government requirements for IT products. FIPS 140-2 is a requirement for selling cryptographic solutions to the US Federal Government. More and more organizations and industry groups that require encryption of sensitive data, such as banking, finance, and retail, are looking to NIST certification as the standard for proper encryption and key management.
