Behind the façade of the fashion house lies jealousy - and an unexpected death

Behind the façade of the fashion house lies jealousy - and an unexpected death

The summer of 1937 in London: behind the scenes of the elegant London couture house “Christophe”, jealousy, flirtation and sudden death lurk. While owner Frank Bevan is still debating whom to send to his new branch in Deauville as general manager, events take a fast turn in his salon. Each of his employees show an interest in the new position, from creative Mrs Doon and his longstanding right hand Mrs Gregory, to senior saleswoman Irene and showroom manager Dorian –unfortunately becoming murder suspects. Even scatter-brained Rose seems to know a lot more about the goings-on behind the stylish façade than anyone would presume...

This entertaining stage adaptation of Christianna Brand’s first crime novel was written by Richard Harris in 2012. Brand herself was inspired by her first job at a London couture salon.
