SCHNABEL project in Dubai achieves Uptime Institute Design Certification for Tier III

This month, the SCHNABEL data center for Dubai Municipality achieved the Uptime Institute Design Certification for Tier III. On October 18th, second day of the Gitex exhibition, Ernst Monteiro, General Manager of SCHNABEL Dubai, handed over the UTI certificate to the management of DM. The international data center standard Tier III stipulates 99.98% availability and annual downtime of less than 1.6 hours.
For about one year now, the engineers at the Dubai office of SCHNABEL AG have been working in full blast on this state-of-the-art data center, which is located in the Central Laboratories in Karamaa, Dubai. It has a UPS power of one MW and a rack space of 450 square meters. Next to other services, the contract also includes the design of the Network Operation Center (NOC), which is now in the tendering phase. The construction phase will start in the first quarter of 2011.
The order for the full project was placed in 2009, with the aim to make all municipal services available until 2015.
