Videos on the new channel include tips and cooking demonstrations from acclaimed gourmet chef Craig Miller who shares his culinary wisdom with guests in the open kitchen of Madre Tierra restaurant, which is part of Rancho de Caldera eco-project.
One clip summarizes Rancho de Caldera’s participation in the global One Day on Earth event and shows how this eco-resort project operates totally off the grid year round, relying mostly on solar- hydro- and wind power, depending on the season.
According to information on its website, among other green policies, the resort recycles, grows organic herbs and vegetables for its restaurant in green houses made from locally grown bamboo and has a waste reduction program in place.
Owner Gina Cronin explains that special care has been taken to prevent soil erosion by planting certain types of grass on slopes around the property. She adds:
“Guests love swimming in our solar powered pool and families with teenagers appreciate the fact that we offer guided horse back excursions - for example to the nearby Caldera hot springs. Other activities include bird watching, climbing Baru volcano, white water rafting, tree trekking and visiting coffee plantations in the Boquete area.”
