School pet blessing aidds other animals
A student group at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas organized the school’s first-ever Blessing of the Animals. The Rev. Nate Bostian, TMI chaplain, officiated at the service, reading “A Litany for Animals” from the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer and blessing pets brought by members of the school and wider community. The event was organized by members of TMI’s Supporting Wildlife and Pets (SWAP) club, who arranged for speakers from animal shelters, collected donations and signed up volunteers for San Antonio’s Animal Care Services shelter.
“We had a great turn-out for a first-time event,” says organizer Natalia Noval, a TMI senior who brought her own dog Bugsy, a recent rescue, to receive a blessing. “People really care for and love their pets, so I know the event will grow in the future.”
