Be it a beech wooden Sudoku or a Memory made from precious woods, locally growing in Germany – intellego holzspiele presents numerous new games at the 2007 International Toy Fair Nürnberg. The special thing about our games is that besides being fun to play, they all feature a precious design.

Our main attraction is MEGA SUDOKU, being a specialty for professionals with its 256 fields.

“We are offering Sudoku fun for everybody – for beginners and professionals alike. For younger players there is a 4 x 4 Sudoku, for experienced Sudoku players there are 9 x 9 Sudokus. Expert Sudoku professionals will love the challenge of the MEGA SUDOKU with 16 x 16 fields.”, states Alois Huger, founder of intellego holzspiele. “In addition, this game series also comprises games we have made for design lovers, such as Sudokus in color and the CIRCULAR SUDOKU.”

The second important topic at the booth: family games. “Intellego holzspiele is literally knocking on wood here!”, says Alois Huger. Because now, a natural wooden find-3-memory game is being published: The Walk in the Woods. A player, who manages to uncover the fruit and leaf of the next tree on his way, chases the other players until he overtakes them and takes their mushrooms. The memory tiles stay in play and are not taken by the player who uncovers them. Thus, players need to memorize the location of the respective tiles and distinguish between beech, alder, fir, pine, etc.

Of course, memorizing local trees, their shape, their leaves and even their characteristic woods (each tree shape is printed on wood of the respective tree), is helpful also to younger players for general knowledge.

The new dice game CUBLINO, is also part of this new family game series. Dr. Thole, head of the German Spielearchiv, about the game in the Oberhessische Presse:”CUBLINO plays really well and can definitely be recommended to aficionados of tactical two-player games.”

Question to the publisher: Aren’t family games past their peak, because there are ever less extended families living together? Alois Huger: “Playing games supports the cohesion of the generations, wherever they might play, in a café or in the park. We care about this a lot and we hope that our family game series contributes to an increase of cohesion between the older generation and their children and grandchildren. Furthermore, good wooden games tend to outlive generations, what hence makes them to family games, too.

Intellego invites visitors to test the fun that the wooden games really offer to players. An XXL Sudoku board, Quadlino, Nine Men’s Morris and Cublino can be tested.
