Nanomaterials and the Comet Assay
The manufacture and use of nanomaterials is increasing dramatically but there are serious concerns about the impact they may have on health and the environment.One specific area of concern is how nanomaterials interact with cellular DNA perhaps causing damage and mutation. The Comet assay is one of several genotoxicity assays being used to measure nanoparticle induced DNA damage.
