Press release from: TAG think

The Summit will feature two morning panels that will focus on Georgia’s unique opportunity to build a sustainable health IT industry that promotes revenues and jobs.

ATLANTA, GEORGIA October 11, 2010 - The Georgia Department of Economic Development, Metro Atlanta Chamber, and TAG Health will jointly host the November 9th Health Information Technology (HIT) Leadership Summit focused on immediate and future needs of the HIT workforce in Georgia. This premier event will highlight Georgia’s nation-leading HIT industry presence, and provide an opportunity for attendees to hear discussion by key stakeholder executives about the immediate needs for skilled workers in the development, implementation, and use of electronic health records (EHRs) and other key health technologies that are critical to the nation’s healthcare reform efforts. In addition, morning panelists will detail their vision for long-term, sustainable industry growth and direction that will provide career and job opportunities for Georgia workers for decades.

The day-long event will feature three morning sessions: a keynote presentation by Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist, Bob Bozeman and two panel discussions. The morning panels will discuss the future of technology in healthcare five to 15 years into the future, and Georgia’s immediate needs in the next five years. They will also explore the unique opportunity Georgia has to build a sustainable health IT industry and the ways that this industry can promote revenues and jobs, not only for the Health IT companies, but all business in Georgia. Additionally, panelists will address how the nation can grow as a result of new career opportunities within HIT.

After a lunch sponsored by Georgia-headquartered CentriNet Corporation, a series of afternoon panels will discuss what employers are seeking and how workers can grow and transition into these new employment opportunities. An all-day “Industry Showcase” will allow Georgia companies to discuss their products and services with attendees who may be seeking to advance business opportunities or their own careers.
The Summit, which will be November 9th at the Fox Theatre, will host more than 70 contributors, representing healthcare corporations, providers and suppliers, universities, medical schools, technical colleges and government entities such as the CDC and the Georgia Department of Community Health.

Panel information and registration information is available online at http://www.tagonline.org/HIT-11-9-10.php.
